Activity Begets Activity¶
Definition¶
The principle that visible deal-making activity — closings, exits, portfolio company announcements — generates inbound deal flow. When intermediaries see that a firm has been active and successful, they think of that firm for new opportunities. Success breeds visibility, which breeds more deal flow.
Origin¶
Introduced by Glenn Oken in Ep. 21. Glenn describes it as an axiom he's observed throughout his 30+ year career.
Application¶
Glenn connects this principle directly to Storytelling Through Exits: announcing exits with detailed operational narratives makes the firm's activity visible and communicates capability simultaneously. It's also why he emphasizes maintaining outreach cadence even during quiet periods — staying visible ensures you're remembered when new opportunities arise.
